What are we doing?
The Summit is about moving up and moving on to new things. It is about trusting God as our Provider and living generously. It is about making ministry impact and sharing amazing real-life stories of God’s goodness, for His glory! It is about you and your own spiritual journey to be more like Christ. It is about all of us working as a team to accomplish something greater than we could ever do alone. It is about unity, generosity, and loving others. It is about relationships - our relationships with each other and our relationships with God. It is a time to grow spiritually and listen to the Holy Spirit’s leading. It is a time to dream big as we look over the horizon. It is exciting, and it’s our journey, our calling, our quest for God’s best in each one of our lives.
September 23 through the month of October, we will launch this 24 month journey! You will not want to miss a single service or LifeGroup class during this window of time! This will truly be life-changing for you individually and for our church corporately.
Why are we doing it?
We are headed to The Summit, because it is better to give than to receive, and living a life of generosity is a cheerful, blessed way to do life! Being generous involves all of you, not just your finances. We want the best for you and your family. Living generously and being rich toward God is a choice – one only you can make. All it requires is that you start somewhere. Through the month of October, we will be providing you with the tools needed to get started on your generosity journey.
Why are we doing it now?
The definition of insanity is doing the same things and expecting different results. If we know there is better way to do life – a more generous way – why would continue to do things the same way we have been doing them? There is no better time than the present to change. Let’s stretch; let’s reach together for something bigger than ourselves. Let’s try something new and see what God does when we step out in faith.
What happens if we do it?
If we collectively, genuinely decided to be generous in every area of our lives, we could turn the Chattanooga area inside-out for God’s glory! We would see more people saved; we would see our debt greatly reduced; we would live happier, more fulfilled lives, and we would be better equipped to face the mission God has before us.
What happens if we don’t do it?
If we choose not to take this journey, we would stay right where we are. Actually, we would lose ground. If something isn’t growing, it’s dying. If we aren’t moving ahead, we are moving backwards. If we don’t go to the Summit, we will miss the vision God has clearly shown our staff. If we don’t go to the Summit, we won’t experience what true unity and mass participation from a group of united believers can do. If we don’t go to the Summit, we will not be giving God our best. What He has called us to do is always worth the challenges along the journey. The return on obedience is always worth the investment.
What comes after The Summit?
After this 24 month season of learning and living out generosity, we will move away from doing two or three year capital stewardship campaigns. We will be at a place where all of the church’s ministry expenses, including the reduced debt, will be able to be merged into “One Fund”. The RPM budget will remain separate, as it continues to gradually be funded more and more through outside sources. With the exception of RPM, all other Abba’s House ministry items will be merged into one amazing, impactful ministry plan!
What do I do next?
Pray. Don’t miss anything God has for you. Be committed to attending every service and LifeGroup class during this season. Be attentive and open to hear God’s voice and how he may be leading you and your family. Be open to change and to living differently, so the Holy Spirit can mold and shape you more into His likeness. Get ready for the journey. Pack your tools (your time, your talent, and your treasure), and let’s head to The Summit!
